Make lists and take them with you!

And this hero does not exactly sermonise - I did not mean to give that impression! He just reacts so strongly to everything, I kept hoping his reactions would be a bit more moderate. He just seems to take things a bit too much to heart and takes the whole film to learn that people can have human failings and still be good!

dustedoff, worry not - this is no Jahan Pyar Miley! He does not sermonise. I just wish he was a bit less of a Devdas sort - drinking-n-gambling for a broken heart is so silly (though he is NOT a jerk like Devdas)! But the eye candy is superb and the songs are lovely - so it is paisa-vasool, after all!

memsaab, certainly Shashi is pretty here, and he angsts so prettily too! :D It does leave me feeling that it could be a lot better, too. I guess it's the whole boy-coming-of-age thing that is bit of an old trope!

Sharmi, which one - Shashi-Tanuja, Shashi-Nanda or Shashi-Naaz? ;D You'll get a lot of pretty pairs here!

Beth, you are perfectly right! He never once brings up izzat! That marks quite a change for director Suraj Prakash (of Jab Jab Phool Khile fame) and naturally makes Shashi's character very progressive! ;D I can totally understand your loving it - I used to, too. I just prefer my heroes to be a bit more worldly-wise...Bollyviewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17270927806254662068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5149142221218445999.post-53028551011297676002010-12-18T17:03:38.104+01:002010-12-18T17:03:38.104+01:00I love this movie but it certainly does have an (u...I love this movie but it certainly does have an (un)healthy dose of hypocrisy and I completely agree that moralizing Shashi is his most unappealing form. I liked many things about it, but also was left just feeling very let down although I couldn't pinpoint why.

It's definitely worth a watch, and I think I'll give it another try too. Shashi's character is annoying but he's pretty and the women in it as you say are nicely fully realized :)memsaabnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5149142221218445999.post-11803803096068982052010-12-18T14:44:17.254+01:002010-12-18T14:44:17.254+01:00I agree with Banno - Shashi Kapoor is hard to bear...I agree with Banno - Shashi Kapoor is hard to bear when he's being preachy (come to think of it, there are few people I can stand being preachy!). But the women sound refreshingly non-typical Hindi film. And it looks like a lot of eye candy too! ;-)

Plus I'd watch it for the entertainment, I guess. Am adding it to my list.
